How to Reset Sophos UTM WebAdmin Password<\/span><\/h2>\n

If you forget your Sophos Webadmin password<\/strong> and you know the root password, then you can login to the UTM through ssh or Direct console and reset the webadmin password.<\/p>\n

  1. Login through Console or SSH as root<\/strong>. and enter the following comments
    \n#cc<\/strong>
    \n#RAW<\/strong>
    \n#system_password_reset.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Now go to the webconsole, this will show you the\u00a0 ‘Admin password setup<\/strong>‘ screen. There you can reset the admin<\/strong> account password.\"How<\/li>\n
  3. This procedure will also reset the SSH root password<\/strong>.
    \nTo change it back In the web console go to Management -> System Settings -> Shell Access -> Shell user passwords<\/strong> and enter a new root password<\/li>\n
  4. Also you can use the following commend in the shell to change the password.
    \n#passwd loginuser<\/strong>
    \n #passwd root<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Reset Sophos root Password<\/span><\/h2>\n

    If you forget both the root and webadming password, you can reset it by booting the device in single mode.<\/p>\n

    1. Power on or reboot the UTM<\/strong>, wait until the GRUB<\/strong> boot loader starts
      \n\"Press<\/li>\n
    2. In the grub menu immediately Press the ‘e’ button<\/strong> on the keyboard to edit the boot loader.<\/li>\n
    3. Now select the kernel and press ‘e’<\/strong> button to edit it
      \n\"edit<\/li>\n
    4. Enter init=\/bin\/bash<\/strong> at the end of the line.
      \n\"enterbash\"<\/li>\n
    5. Now press enter button to confirm the edit<\/strong>, this will go the the previous menu.<\/li>\n
    6. Now press “b” button<\/strong> to boot the device in single mode.<\/li>\n
    7. In the single mode Type:
      \n #passwd loginuser<\/strong>
      \nEnter and re-enter a new password for the ‘loginuser’ account.
      \n #passwd root<\/strong>
      \nEnter and re-enter a new password for the root account.

    8. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del<\/strong> to reboot the UTM.<\/li>\n
